The Conference

The conference takes place on Friday the 4th of November 2022 in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and online (link will be sent prior to the event). Based on the book publication described below, the conference will bring together a wide variety of people and institutions to discuss diverse interpretations of World Heritage, the Convention, and its Peace Mandate. A guided tour through the World Heritage Site of the Museum Island will be offered after the conference, from 17:30 to 19:00. Please indicate in the registration form, whether you like to take part. Due to organisational purposes, registration to the guided tour is binding.

The Publication

The book “50 Years World Heritage Convention: Shared Responsibility – Conflict & Reconciliation” is published as a celebration of 50 Years of the World Heritage Convention, reflecting whether its goals and contents have been implemented accordingly. Written by 61 authors from 28 countries, the book is representative of a variety of perspectives and expertise, illustrating the diversity of humanity’s heritage. The publication will be available free of charge through an Open Access format. The topics covered are Global Governance, Urban Transformation, War & Terrorism, Climate Change, Technological Change, and Commodification of Heritage. The Open Access link will be provided soon.
